Ofsted

At South Wingfield Primary School, we welcome the opportunity to reflect, improve, and celebrate our strengths through the Ofsted inspection process. Ofsted is the official body for inspecting schools in England, and its role is to ensure high standards of education, safeguarding, and leadership across all settings.

From November 2025, Ofsted has introduced a new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) designed to provide a more balanced and transparent view of school performance. Instead of a single overall judgement, schools will now receive a report card with separate ratings across key areas, including:

  • Leadership and governance
  • Curriculum and teaching
  • Achievement
  • Attendance and behaviour
  • Personal development and wellbeing
  • Inclusion
  • (Plus Early Years and Post-16, where applicable)

Each area is graded using a five-point scale:
Exceptional, Strong Standard, Expected Standard, Needs Attention, and Urgent Improvement.
Safeguarding will continue to be judged separately as either ‘Met’ or ‘Not Met’.

This new approach aims to give parents and carers clearer, more detailed insights into how schools are performing, while also recognising the unique context and strengths of each setting. It also places greater emphasis on inclusion, staff wellbeing, and collaborative dialogue during inspections.

We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the framework, and to using inspection outcomes as a tool for continuous improvement and celebration of our school community.
