Welcome to Class 5's page. The children in this class are in Year 5 and 6 and are taught by Mrs Fisher on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and by Mrs Philbin on Thursday and Friday. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Hicking.
Class 5 met up with their Class 1 Buddies. They completed some leaf art together, shared a story and made some edible wands before finishing off the afternoon by enjoying "Room on a Broom" together. All the children were very well behaved and enjoyed meeting up.
Who is behind the mask?
Class 5 have been exploring the significance of masks as part of Mayan rituals. They designed their own mask, thinking about their use of colour for effect. Take a look at what they have created.
Take One Picture
The painting for Take One Picture this year was 'An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump' by Joseph Wright. We talked about the details the children could see in the painting. They identified the birdcage in the background. Each child created their own interpretation of a birdcage and printed it using acrylic paint. All the bird cages were put together to create one final piece. Each child also wrote a diary imagining that they were sat around table witnessing this event. We also create a large pair of wings to link in with our growth mind-set work. The messages on the coloured wing include positive messages and those on the black and white wing include negative messages. Here is a small sample of our work.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
