The School Day 

 

Families enter the school via the playground gates, and the doors to school open at 8:45 until 8:55. Class 1 children enter the school via their classroom door, the remainder of children enter via the two main doors. The gate will be locked at 8:55, any children arriving later than this time need to enter the school via the school office.  Register closes at 9:00 and any children who arrive after this time will be marked down as late. 

 

All children have a morning break time, adults are asked to kindly provide their children with a healthy snack. KS1 Lunch is 12:00-13:00 and KS2 lunch is 12:15-13:15. 

KS1 children are dismissed at 3:25 via their classroom doors and KS2's dismissal time is 3:30. Adults are asked to wait in the playground for collection. 

 

Classes 

 

At South Wingfield we have 5 classes, all of them (apart from Class 3) consisting of mixed aged classes. 

 

Class 1: Miss Goold, Recpetion and Year 1

Class 2: Mrs Heathcote. Year 1 and Year 2

Class 3: Mrs Williams and Mrs Wood , Year 3

Class 4: Miss Wareham, Year 4 and Year 5

Class 5: Mrs Fisher, Year 5 and Year 6. 

 

At the end of Reception and Year 4, the class teachers alongside the headteacher make a decision on how the children will be split for the following academic year. This is NOT done on ability, we ensure that there is a mixed ability in each year group which is considered  alongside a multitude of other factors e.g. friendship groups, siblings etc. Whilst we understand and appreciate that some parents may be concerned about this each decision is made with the child's best interests heart and it isn't taken likely. Once the class lists have been decided and approved the decision is final.
