In Derbyshire we have put a great deal of time, effort and money into creating healthy menus and promoting the healthy choices to pupils. We also want to provide parents with all the information they need about school dinners.
Our menus are on a three weekly cycle which changes every six months and include vegetarian options. Meals include a main meal, desert and a drink, which is excellent value for money. Most schools offer 2 choices of main meal or a jacket potato, vegetables, salad, fresh fruit, bread and drinking water are freely available every day. Themed lunches are offered on a monthly basis for primary schools to create a fun eating experience and to build interest in the food offering.
If your child has any special dietary requirements then please let school know. All our menus meet the current Government nutritional standards. You can download our nutritional information with RDA guides here.
The recommended daily meal price for a Primary school child is £2.20 this is excellent value for money! (Price correct at September 2020).
Please note that sometimes our cooks have to make menu changes at short notice (for instance if there is a problem with food deliveries) but we aim to keep this to a minimum.
Currently children in Key Stage 1 (Reception, Year 1 & 2) qualify for Universal Free School Meals. Please note that Universal Free School Meals end when your child enters Key Stage 2 (year 3 upwards) and the recommended daily meal price of £2.20 will apply, unless you are eligible for Free School Meals. School dinners taken will be uploaded onto our SchoolMoney payment system the following week where you can pay any money owed, or pay for dinners in advance.
**The governors of South Wingfield Primary have agreed a maximum debt of £20.00. If the debt is not paid parents/carers must supply a packed lunch for their child/ren.**
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
