At South Wingfield Primary School, we want children to experience all the different curriculum subjects and all they have to offer.
We ensure that children are using the vocabulary of each subject, but make sure they experience working in a particular way for each individual subject. For example, in art, we want them to feel like an artist, in history, work in a way that a historian would work. In geography, feel like an explorer, and in science, work scientifically.
These authentic experiences allow children to know what it feels like to learn in different kinds of ways, and find their talent or specialism.
We created visual images of these ways of working and called them our 'We are..' posters. They are displayed around the school hall as a visual reminder of how the curriculum promotes these different approaches and ways of learning.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
