Welcome to the Class One New Starters Page!
We are very much looking forward to meeting our new starters and their family members. The children in Class One are taught by Mrs Curtis on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Barratt on a Thursday and Friday. The teachers are supported by a team of teaching assistants who work with the children in learning through play.
Learning Through Play
At South Wingfield Primary School we believe that children who feel happy and safe in an environment where they can explore and investigate will be successful learners. Therefore learning in Class One is achieved through a variety of play based activities, some that are led by the children and some that are enhanced by adult intervention. Alongside independent learning we deliver short focused teaching sessions where the children are taught Phonics, Maths and early writing and where we encourage a love of story telling, singing and chat!
